What a difference a week makes!! With 12 players from the previous week not available Cwmcarn had to travel to Malpas RFC with 15 players including old stalwart Andrew Simmonds. With only one prop available Cwmcarn had to opt for passive scrums from the start.

The game kicked off with Cwmcarn receiving the ball, the much heavier bulkier Malpas forwards to the fore, but not taking a backward step Cwmcarn defended fiercely with Reuben Hoare and Nathen Burczyk putting in some telling tackles. Cwmcarn were under pressure from the start with the referee not helping the situation with his ineptness and inexperience.

Tackle after tackle was put in and Malpas were stopped on the gain line Todd Sterry showing much leadership skills and determination. It was inevitable that Malpas were to score with the Malpas openside scoring in the corner. The game was not made easy for the Malpas 15 but their efforts paid off with the bonus point try  before half time. The first half had a telling effect on the Cwmcarn team with no replacements and Malpas able to replace a multitude of players and finally understanding big props are not required in non contested scrums,the Cwmcarn team began to tire this allowed the fresh legs of the Malpas team to further stretch their lead running 57-0 winners.
